Concert & Event Piano Hire

We hire and deliver pianos country wide for functions, recording sessions, etc. We also provide a piano moving service where we will move your existing piano in your house for you. A 30% deposit is required to secure a piano for hire.

Deposit refundable up to 14 days prior to the commencement of the hire. For cancellations within 14 days of the booked date, deposits are non-refundable.

A discounted rate is available on all hire prices for SingIreland members and charity events.

Base rate means a ground floor location within 50 klms of our shop in Dublin 11. Hire quotes beyond this will be subject to additional fees to cover the logistical costs depending on location. Pianos will either be pre-prepared or tuned on site depending on location.

Piano Restoration Projects

Here at Thornton Pianos we offer the full range of repair services.

These include Full Action Overhaul incorporating:

  • Recentring,
  • Spring replacement,
  • Leather and Tape replacement,
  • Hammer facing,
  • Action and pedal regulation,
  • Pitch raising and Tuning.

Major Repair Work can include:

  • Full Re-stringing,
  • Wrest plank,
  • Soundboard and
  • Bridge repairs.
  • Full cabinet Strip and Re-French Polish by hand (not sprayed).
  • Key sand and polish,
  • Key recovering.

All repairs carry a full 12 month guarantee and all estimates are given in writing. Your piano will be fully insured whilst in our care. Axaplus members enjoy additional discounts.

Piano Moving

Piano Tuning

Piano tuning is provided by our own full time, fully qualified piano tuners. Each of our tuners have more then 15 years experience in this specialised field and facilitate minor repairs on site if required.

We also work with John Murphy, one of Ireland’s newest tuners, John has over 5 years experience and you’ve probably seen one of his pianos if you’ve been through any of the major train stations in Ireland.

Piano Storage

New Reduced Storage rates available with the opening of our new in-house storage facility. Store your upright piano with us for as little as €75.64/month for a block period.

Price quoted, subject to collection and redelivery fees before & after storage period. We can offer short or long term storage for your Upright or Grand piano up to 180cm long if you are having work done at home or moving house. Block period prices available for 6 or more months.
